Vytrus received the I Feel Good Best Formulation Award 2023 for its active ingredient Photobiome™

The active ingredient has been awarded for its innovation at the Best Formulation Awards 2023 at the French trade fair I Feel Good, the national trade fair for personal care ingredients in France. The awards ceremony took place on Tuesday, September 19th at the fair held in Paris, France, where the award was presented to the Vytrus Biotech sales team.
After its accolade at in-cosmetics Korea Best Ingredient Award 2023, the BSB Innovation Awards, I Feel Good Awards Best Formulation 2023 and being among the top 10 finalists in the world at the in-cosmetics Global Fair Innovation Awards last March, this recognition for Photobiome™ once again reinforces its effectiveness, innovation and scientific level among the latest innovations launched on the market globally.
The new active ingredient Photobiome™ opens the door to a new category of Microbial Antioxidants by helping our skin’s microbiota to photoprotect itself, protecting and nourishing bacteria, modulating the release of their own natural photodefense molecules that improve the signs of the photoaging process in the skin.
The new Sun-Microbiota-Skin axis
Vytrus has been researching in the field of skin microbiota for 10 years and has discovered metabolic pathways for applications such as acne, biological deodorant, interaction with the brain and pleasure hormones, as well as skin aging linked to the aging of the bacterial populations that inhabit our outermost skin layer.
Now Vytrus unveils with Photobiome™ its latest scientific advances in the field of microbiota and describes a new biological approach: the Sun-Microbiota-Skin axis, elucidating the important role of the microbiota in relation to the effects of solar radiation on the skin, either for or to the detriment of skin tissue. The active ingredient combats skin photoaging due to excessive sun exposure by photoprotecting the skin microbiota.
The story of an innovation inspired by nature
Photobiome is a 100% natural active ingredient from pomegranate stem cells (Punica granatum) and cotton from desert and semi-arid regions of the Near and Middle East (Gossypium herbaceum). Through a new biotechnological platform for cell fusions, Vytrus combines two plants with high antioxidant power and resistant to extreme temperatures. In this way, Vytrus obtains a synergistic effect of preventing skin ageing caused by the sun by photoprotecting the skin microbiota.
Biotechnology crosses frontiers in sun care and healthy aging
Photobiome represents a new paradigm in the sun care and good ageing markets and a step forward and a scientific breakthrough in the field of microbiota. This new category of biotechnology-based active ingredients offers cosmetic formulas new ways to protect and repair skin photodamage with a sustainable solution based on plant biotechnology:
- Preventive and Treating Antioxidant Formulations
- Photoaging treatment: products for wrinkles (crow’s feet, nasolabials, eye contour)
- Preventive and repairing sun formulas
- Treatments to improve the appearance of hyperpigmentation
