Vytrus Biotech, the company specialized in active ingredients derived from biotechnology for skin and hair care, presents its latest results of Elaya Renova™ – The hair tensegrist.

Vytrus reveals the first quantification of the exosomes, Phyto-PDRN and ExoPDRN™ naturally present in Elaya Renova™, as well as a new ex vivo test on curly hair, confirming the biotech active as a true 360° ingredient for hair and scalp.

Elaya Renova™ is an active ingredient obtained from Mediterranean olive (Olea europaea) stem cells, developed through Vytrus’ biotechnology platforms. Since its introduction, the active has addressed hair fiber and scalp health under a single concept “Hair Tensegrity” treating both as one interconnected structural system rather than two separate targets.

Hair Tensegrity: connecting hair fiber and scalp

Elaya Renova™ is built on the concept of Hair Tensegrity: the idea that hair fiber and scalp are part of one interconnected structural system, and that lasting hair health depends on addressing both together rather than treating them as separate targets. This latest round of testing extends that concept specifically to curly hair, confirming benefits at both fiber and scalp level after a single application.

New data on curly hair: hydration, combing, anti-frizz and humidity resistance

Curly hair faces specific structural challenges: from managing frizz and moisture loss to controlling combing effort and curl definition, especially under high-humidity conditions. Consumers with curly hair often report products that fail to adapt to their fiber’s unique architecture, leaving hydration, manageability and scalp comfort as unmet needs.

With this new ex vivo study on real curly hair tresses (leave-on application), Vytrus reinforces Elaya Renova™‘s relevance for formulators developing dedicated, science-backed solutions for textured hair. A single application of Elaya Renova™ has been shown to:

  • Improve hydration in curly hair fibers.
  • Reduce combing effort and frizz, even under high-humidity conditions.
  • Increase curl definition in high humidity.

New characterisation of Elaya Renova™

Beyond the proteo-lipidic matrix encapsulated in cyclodextrins of Elaya Renova™, three plant-derived components have now been quantified:

  • Phyto-PDRN: DNA fragments that act at the cell surface.
  • Real plant exosomes naturally contained in Elaya Renova™.
  • ExoPDRN™: PDRN identified and naturally encapsulated within those real plant exosomes.

Associated studies show a dual-action strategy that works both at the cell surface and inside the cell nucleus. For the first time, Vytrus has quantified the real, measurable levels of Phyto-PDRN and ExoPDRN™ naturally present in Elaya Renova™, adding scientific depth to an active already recognized for its hair and scalp benefits. ExoPDRN™ has also been shown to reduce scalp redness versus placebo, reinforcing Elaya Renova™‘s calming profile at scalp level.

Elaya Renova™‘s global efficacy has been tested in more than 20 tests in both rinse-off and leave-on formats, reinforcing its versatility as a true 360° ingredient for hair and scalp care. Its profile supports multiple cosmetic territories, including:

  • Curly and textured hair care formulations.
  • Anti-frizz and curl-defining treatments.
  • Scalp comfort and anti-redness routines with exosomes and ExoPDRN™.
  • Rinse-off and leave-on hair care treatments.
  • Hair anchoring and vitalizing treatments.
  • Soothing, rebalancing and anti-desquamation scalp formulations.
  • Heat protective formulations (drying and ironing).

With these new results, Elaya Renova™ – The hair tensegrist adds a new chapter to its scientific story, already recognized at the Innovation Awards of in-cosmetics Latin America and in-cosmetics Asia trade shows.
