Vytrus Biotech has taken a further step in its commitment to sustainability by voluntarily calculating, verifying and reporting its carbon footprint for 2024.

The company is thus continuing to consolidate its Sustainability Strategy and its model of responsible governance. This initiative reflects the company’s commitment to advancing the measurement and management of its environmental impact, whilst enhancing transparency with all its stakeholders.

The calculation was carried out with the support of a specialist partner, Dcycle, and subsequently verified by Bureau Veritas, ensuring a high level of rigor, accuracy, and reproducibility in the data obtained. As a result of this process, Vytrus has registered its carbon footprint with the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), obtaining the official “Calculo” stamp, in recognition of the company’s efforts in this area.

Vytrus’s total carbon footprint in 2024 was 358.66 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent, calculated in accordance with the international standards of the GHG Protocol, one of the world’s most widely recognised frameworks for measuring emissions.

The organisational boundaries for this calculation are determined on the basis of operational controls, through the classification of emission sources and across three possible scopes of study.

This carbon footprint calculation marks the continuation of a journey that began in 2020, when Vytrus started carrying out its first calculations in-house, with the aim of understanding its environmental impact, improving the management of its processes and fostering a corporate culture focused on sustainability.

This project forms part of Vytrus’s contribution to Sustainable Development Goal 13 (Climate Action) and reinforces its commitment to implementing an active strategy to tackle climate change, based on measurement, setting reduction targets and continuous improvement. Furthermore, the initiative has involved various departments within the company, helping to raise awareness and encourage Vytrus team around this global challenge.

In addition, Vytrus supports initiatives that have a positive impact on the environment, such as its sponsorship since 2019 of a 25-hectare Mediterranean forest in Catalonia, in collaboration with the Sèlvans association. This ecosystem captures a minimum of 9.57 tCO₂/hectare/year, meaning that Vytrus’s initiative helps to capture approximately 239.25 tonnes of CO₂ per year, reinforcing the company’s commitment to protecting the natural environment and biodiversity.

With this development, Vytrus continues to embed sustainability at the heart of its business, aligning its growth with environmental challenges and creating long-term value for its customers, partners, staff, the investment community and society.
