First BBVA Sustainable Innovation Award for Vytrus

News
May 27, 2022

The Fundació Antigues Caixes Catalanes (FACC) and BBVA, after announcing the BBVA Award for Innovation in Environmental Sustainability for SMEs and freelancers, awarded Vytrus Biotech for its environmentally friendly business proposal.

This year, Vytrus Biotech, together with Fitplanet, have been recognized as winners of the BBVA Award for Innovation in Environmental Sustainability, an award in which El Periódico collaborates and which aims to promote innovation and sustainability in business, in accordance with goals 7, 12 and 13 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN.

The award ceremony took place on May 25 at the emblematic Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site (Barcelona), which was covered by the media.

At Vytrus we have managed to cultivate plant stem cells from which we develop active ingredients for natural cosmetics to improve people’s health. An environmentally friendly process thanks to our biotechnological platforms.

The key is that crops that in nature would occupy a hectare, here they grow in 80 square meters; and what would otherwise need about 10,000 liters of water, here is achieved with little more than one. It is a very significant change: we produce much more with much less. We already have the answers here, we just need to observe how nature works.
Òscar Expósito
CEO, CCO and co-founder

This award is a recognition to a sustainable, innovative, and profitable business model such as Vytrus and a new vision of cosmetics from biotechnology, science, and inspiration through nature to bet on an environmentally friendly cosmetics industry.

Vytrus Biotech increases its net profit by more than 100% in 2021.

News
April 26, 2022

Vytrus Biotech has closed 2021 with the best results in its history, increasing its net profit by more than 100% compared to 2020.

Following the issuance and publication of the 2021 audit report, the biotech company presents the best numbers and ratios in its history. Its turnover jumped by 64% in 2021 compared to the previous year, reaching a turnover of €2.8 million, while EBITDA increased by 91% to €1.13 million. Vytrus has thus increased its sales by 133% in the two years of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The IPO process has involved numerous internal changes and we have carried out a multitude of procedures such as audits or due diligence of all kinds, among others. So, it has been a very intense few months, but it has been worth it to be listed on the market, an objective that we had in mind for a long time.

Doubles its market value in its first month of trading

On March 15, following the traditional bell ringing held at the Barcelona Stock Exchange, Vytrus became the second company in 2022 in Spain to make the leap to BME Growth, the stock market for SMEs. The company, which debuts as a non-placement listing under the trading code “VYT”, has increased its market value by more than 100% during its first month of trading, rising from a starting price of €12.2 million to a current value of almost €24.2 million, with a price as of April 25 of €3.54 per share from the initial reference value of €1.72 per share.

This evolution of the share value reflects the positive reception of Vytrus by the market and even more so within the current framework of uncertainty experienced by the global stock markets.

Nectaria Lithops™ receives BSB Innovation Award 2022 in asset innovation

News
April 13, 2022

Vytrus has received the prize in 2022 BSB Innovation Awards for our natural active NECTARIA LITHOPS™.

The active ingredient has been ranked on the 2nd position in the BSB Innovation Awards in the category of Actives. An award that recognizes the biotech active for its creative approach due to its biophysical mechanism of action based on a plant strategy.

NECTARIA LITHOPS™ is a 100% natural active from plant stem cells that biophysically stimulates vitamin D production topically for the first time in cosmetics. It provides the cosmetic industry with a new concept, the D-Skin (dewy, deeply hydrated, vitamin D enriched skin, and a D-approach for sun care).

The story that inspired Vytrus’s innovation comes from the plant Lithops pseudotruncatella (‘Living Stones’), an expert in the management of water, space, and light in very extreme conditions. Thanks to its plant mechanism of action, NECTARIA LITHOPS ™, respectful with the skin microbiota, boosts vitamin D production in skin cells to create the optimal skin environment, hydrate the deepest layers of the skin, increase the skin dewiness and cheek volume, and improve oxygenation, microcirculation, and skin tone and texture.

While opening a new D-vision for the whole Sun Care market (why choosing between being protected and having a healthy skin, take it all!), NECTARIA LITHOPS™ approaches cosmetic applications such as volumizing and brightening formulations, tone and texture evening treatments, wellbeing & antioxidant products, dry/very dry skin formulations, dermal filling applications, moisturizers, skin densifying and structuring formulations, and radiance and glow treatments, highlighters, and colour cosmetics, amongst others.

Vytrus Biotech will be exhibiting at in-Cosmetics Global 2022 in Paris

News
March 31, 2022

After two years of pandemic, trade shows are returning to the daily basis of the cosmetic industry. Since the last edition in 2019, the leading global event for personal care ingredients is back to scene on 5-7 April in Paris.

Vytrus will be present at the trade show as exhibitor at booth C78 where our technical team will be available to discuss with clients about our latest innovations in skincare and haircare, and how our ingredients protect a Mediterranean forest in Spain.

We will be showcasing our new haircare concept inspired by architecture, the Hair tensegrity, and its holistic application through a plant-based active – ELAYA RENOVA™, a 100% natural active from stem cells of wild olive tree, an ancestral Mediterranean species. And NECTARIA LITHOPS™, a 100% natural active from plant stem cells that stimulates vitamin D production topically for the first time in cosmetics.

ELAYA RENOVA™ protects and strengthens the whole hair structure, from scalp to hair shaft. Specifically enriched in a nourishing proteo-lipidic matrix, it reinforces both hair and scalp from the inside and works on hair anchoring by a network of proteins between hair shaft and scalp.

Hair shaft and scalp are intimately interconnected as a continuum and each part is interdependent from the others.

This hair care active brings a new paradigm in cosmetics for the protection and restructuring of both hair and scalp at the same time. A new path for not having to use different products for each application (hair and scalp, protection and revitalizing), offering the possibility of a multi-activity ingredient to approach all the needs of haircare in one raw material.

We have also recently launched NECTARIA LITHOPS™, a Cell Nectar for D-Skin, that provides a new concept: the D-Skin (dewy, deeply hydrated, vitamin D enriched skin, and a D-approach for sun care).

The story behind and what has inspired Vytrus’s innovation comes from the plant Lithops pseudotruncatella (‘Living Stones’), an expert in the management of water, space, and light in very extreme conditions.

Willing to provide visitors with a natural spot during the trade fair, Vytrus will be sponsoring two Seating areas along the Port de Versailles, where assistants will be able to rest and enjoy the intense days of the show. Those Seating areas will be found at booths V140 and B21.

Vytrus will also have a Technical seminar on Tuesday 5th April at 15:05h at Theatre 3 presented by its CEO and CSO, Òscar Expósito, under the name “Breakthrough biotech concepts in personal care based on plant stem cell technology”. Also, the company’s innovations (Elaya Renova™ and Nectaria Lithops™) will also be showcased at the Innovation zone.

Let’s meet at booth C78!

Elaya Renova™: an architecture-inspired active ingredient for hair skin care

News
March 25, 2022

Vytrus after launching its successful active ingredient, NECTARIA LITHOPS™, a Cell Nectar for a D-Skin, which biophysically stimulates vitamin D synthesis in the skin, launches ELAYA RENOVA™, a new architecture-inspired active ingredient for global hair and scalp care.

At in-cosmetics Global in Paris, we will present at booth C78 our 2022 revolutionary concept and innovation in hair care, the Hair tensegrity, and its holistic application through the plant-based active ELAYA RENOVA ™, a 100% natural active from stem cells of wild olive tree, an ancestral Mediterranean species.

ELAYA RENOVA™ protects, reinforces, regenerates, and beautifies the whole hair structure, from scalp to hair shaft with a plant strategy. Specifically enriched in a nourishing proteo-lipidic matrix, it reinforces both the hair and scalp from the inside, facing the challenge of a global hair care skinification.

Latest Vytrus’ innovation is inspired by the architectural concept of “Tensegrity”. This term is coined from the contraction of “tensional” and “integrity” (components under compression inside a network in continuous tension). The Tensegrity explains how changes applied to an area will also exert effects at a distance because everything is interconnected.

Vytrus has transferred this vision of tensegrity to the hair structure, launching the new cosmetic approach of TrichoTensegrity, appealing to the importance of the scalp and the hair structure and its influence on hair mechanical properties and biology behavior. Hair shaft and the scalp are intimately interconnected as a continuum and each part is interdependent from the others.

This new hair care active introduces a new way for the protection and restructuring of both hair and scalp at the same time; a new path that doesn’t require different products for each application (hair and scalp, protection, and revitalizing), offering the possibility of a multiactivity ingredient to approach all the needs of hair care in one raw material.

Vytrus Biotech joins BME Growth and its share value rises by 25% on its stock market debut

News
March 15, 2022
Vytrus made its debut this Tuesday, March 15, and it closed its first trading day on BME Growth (SME stock market) with an increase in its market value of more than 25%

We started our debut on the BME Growth market with a 19.77% rise after the traditional bell ringing celebrated in an exciting event at the Barcelona Stock Exchange, being the second company to be released on the SME market in 2022. At the close of our first day, Vytrus’ valuation was up 25.58%, with a price of €2.16 per share.

The Board of Directors of BME Growth recently approved the listing of Vytrus Biotech on the BME Growth market, once all the documentation submitted by the company had been analyzed and studied and the favorable evaluation report of the Market Coordination and Incorporations Committee had been issued. The value of our share has debuted on the stock exchange at a price of 1.72 euros, which represents an initial valuation of the company of 12.24 million euros.

We made our debut on the BME Growth in the form of a listing without placement, under the trading code “VYT”, with GVC Gaesco Valores as Registered Advisor and Liquidity Provider, and Garrigues and IMB Grup as legal advisors.

Founded more than 12 years ago by Albert Jané, biotechnologist and biochemist and Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Òscar Expósito, biologist and PhD in Plant Biotechnology, and current CEOs, Vytrus has increased by 65% its turnover during the financial year 2021 to 2.8 million euros compared to 2020, which represents an increase in sales of 133% in the two years of pandemic and a double-digit annual increase, in the trend of increase of the last 5 years. We have also managed in 2021 to increase EBITDA by 91% to €1.13 million compared to 2020 and to multiply by more than 5 the EBITDA we obtained in 2019.

The fact of Vytrus being listed on BME Growth, the SME stock market, provides us with a liquidity mechanism and objective valuation of Vytrus shares as a reference for potential future corporate operations. On the other hand, being a listed company helps us to increase our brand image, transparency, and solvency, thus strengthening our relationship with clients, investors, suppliers, and financiers.

65% of sales - exports to more than 30 countries.

Pending the annual audit, we estimate that we could close 2021 with the best results in its history, where 65% of our sales are the result of exports to more than 30 countries. In Vytrus we have closed 2021 with a team of almost 30 qualified workers, and with facilities of 1,400 m2 in Terrassa (Barcelona) where we research, develop, produce, and market active ingredients of high added value for the cosmetics industry and the health sector.

A living project that we are very proud of and with which we want to continue to be close to our clients to provide unique added value through our essence as a company

‘Innovating with Plant Stem Cells’ provides a deeper look on how Vytrus is inspired by plant properties. A new way of developing biotechnological platforms to create innovative actives that respect the environment, and skin and hair health.

Plants are the core of Vytrus knowledge and creations, so the channel includes a section called ‘Plant Stories’. Those capabilities that nature brings which the company translates into the cosmetics language to deal with skincare and haircare.

Finally, the ‘Formulating from Nature’ section will include several episodes that aims to help cosmetic formulators create a wide range of possibilities with new biotech concepts.

New brand identity, a real step forward

News
February 15, 2022

At Vytrus, we have updated our visual identity in order to communicate the science and benefits of our innovations in a precise and transparent way, as well as to ensure a coherent and consistent image and reputation for the organization.

This complete and renewed image is based on four key axes and values:
  • Plants: Our source of inspiration, which explains us amazing stories about how nature works.
  • Innovation: It is central to our efforts to create new concepts for the cosmetic market.
  • Science: That powers Vytrus’ biotechnology-based research.
  • Team passion: That allows us to make a story come true, caring for each other and crossing borders.

In this transformation process, working on the new brand identity has been a very motivating challenge for Vytrus, which has managed to convey its true essence by renewing the logo and the graphic elements that accompany it, as well as the image of our products.

The company has experienced very positive changes and significant growth in terms of turnover, team members, markets we serve, and our strategy and approach to audiences. This organizational evolution, together with our incorporation to the BME Growth market, encouraged us to improve the visual identity to maintain this coherence between what Vytrus is and the image it transmits to all its stakeholders.

This rebranding has been accompanied by a new website that incorporates the new corporate identity, showcasing our true soul and Vytrus’ commitment to creatively engage with our team, customers, distributors, shareholders, suppliers, and partners around the world.

This new corporate website has a fresh look, combining both the science and technology of plant stem cells, our core business, and our approach to cosmetics.

Besides a better design, navigability, and user experience, we have added new sections such as creative formulation proposals with our active ingredients, cosmetic trends, as well as a private area that gives our customers access to an exclusive space, where we provide more knowledge about our technologies, products, and other value-added materials.

In addition, we have added a section for the investment community with financial and relevant information about the company, following our commitment to transparency with the market as a listed company.

In this way, we accompany and support our client and the investment community in their journey with Vytrus.
